Shivkar Bapuji Talpade

Shivkar Bapuji Talpade was an Indian instructor in Mumbai with an interest in Sanskrit and aviation who is said to have built and flown an unmanned aircraft, called Marutsakha, above Chowpatty Beach in 1895. No contemporary account of a successful flight survives, and historians have found no reliable record that it happened. The claim that Talpade preceded the Wright brothers gained currency only in the early 2000s and has been assessed by researchers as pseudohistorical rather than established fact.
