All Sanitary and Environmental Engineers

Engineers who designed the sewers, water treatment plants and wastewater works that keep cities healthy, together with the scientists who set the standards for clean water and safe disposal of waste. Their work separated sewage from drinking water, treated water with chlorine and turned the handling of waste into a profession. A person belongs here when the cited article calls the person a sanitary engineer or a pioneer of sanitary engineering or wastewater treatment. It excludes engineers whose main work was canals or dams.
