William Redington Hewlett, known as Bill Hewlett (1913 to 2001), was an American electrical engineer who co-founded the Hewlett-Packard company with David Packard. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and raised in California, he studied radio engineering at Stanford under Frederick Terman, earned a master's degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later the Stanford degree of Engineer. His graduate design for a resistance-capacity audio oscillator became the company's first product, the Model 200A, after the pair formalised their partnership in 1939. He served as vice president, executive vice president, president from 1964 and later chief executive, held several patents in electronics and scientific measurement, and was president of the Institute of Radio Engineers in 1954. With Packard he shaped the management culture known as the HP Way, and with his wife Flora he founded the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in 1966.
