Václav Laurin

Mechanical Engineering

Václav Laurin was a Czech engineer, industrialist and automotive pioneer, born on 27 September 1865 and died on 3 December 1930. Together with Václav Klement he founded the automobile manufacturer Laurin and Klement. That firm later became Škoda Auto, which is the largest Czech company. His place in technology history rests on this partnership: he was one of the two founders of an early car maker whose successor is the largest company in the Czech Republic. The source article lead used for this entry is brief, so this record covers his dates, his profession and his role as co-founder, and leaves further biography to later research.
