Ground facilities that hold a model or a full size part still while a controlled stream of air or gas flows past it, so lift, drag, pressure and heating can be measured safely and repeatably, from low speed tunnels to supersonic and hypersonic tunnels and the balances and smoke or pressure instruments used in them. An invention belongs here when the cited article describes it as a test facility or measuring apparatus for aerodynamic research. Flight instruments carried in an aircraft belong in the flight instruments group of the same field.
