Electrical Fuse

An electrical fuse is a safety device used in electronics and electrical engineering to provide overcurrent protection for a circuit. Its essential component is a metal wire or strip that melts when too much current flows through it, interrupting the current and stopping the flow. A fuse is a sacrificial device: once it has operated it forms an open circuit and must be replaced or rewired, depending on its type.
