This group gathers electrical engineering inventions that serve a genuinely different purpose from the other groups under this subcategory, including timekeeping devices such as the atomic clock and quartz clock, disputed or speculative devices such as Archimedes' heat ray, the death ray, Teleforce, Perepiteia and Newman's Energy Machine, and standalone items such as the barcode, lightning rod, subwoofer, sonic weapon and Shabbat elevator. Their shared trait is not belonging to communication, circuits, power generation, lighting, recording, transportation or household use, rather than any single function of their own.
