Cassette Tape

The cassette tape, officially named the Compact Cassette and also known as the audio cassette or simply the tape, is an analog magnetic tape format for recording and playing back audio. It was invented by Lou Ottens and his team at the Dutch company Philips, who introduced the Compact Cassette in August 1963 and, from 1966 onward, licensed the patented format freely to other manufacturers.
