Windshield Wiper

A windshield wiper, called a windscreen wiper in Commonwealth English, is a device that clears rain, snow, ice, or other debris from a vehicle's front window, made of a pivoting metal arm carrying a rubber blade that is swept back and forth across the glass by a motor, usually electric. Mary Anderson is credited with inventing the first operational windshield wiper in 1903, filing a patent for what she called a window cleaning device on June 18 of that year, granted on November 10, 1903, and operable by a lever from inside the vehicle.
