Cruise Control

Cruise control, also called speed control or autocruise, is a system that automatically holds an automobile at a steady speed chosen by the driver, acting as a servomechanism that takes over control of the throttle. It was invented in 1948 by the blind mechanical engineer Ralph Teetor, patented in 1950, and first offered to buyers on the 1958 Chrysler Imperial, which marketed the feature as auto-pilot.
