Railway Air Brake

A railway air brake is a railway braking system that uses compressed air as its operating medium. Modern trains rely on a fail safe air brake system based on a design George Westinghouse patented on April 13, 1869, and the Westinghouse Air Brake Company was subsequently organized to manufacture and sell his invention. In one form or another, the railway air brake has since been adopted almost universally on the world's railways.
