This group gathers mechanical engineering inventions built for combat or defense, including firearms from the musket and rifle through the machine gun and Gatling gun, edged and thrown weapons such as the crossbow and bayonet, and larger mechanisms such as the cannon, artillery piece, torpedo and catapult.
