Gas Centrifuge

Nuclear Engineering

A gas centrifuge is a device that performs isotope separation of gases. It relies on the principle of centrifugal force: as the device spins rapidly, particles of different masses are physically separated along the radius of the rotating container, so that lighter and heavier isotopes can be drawn off separately.
