A shock absorber, or damper, is a mechanical or hydraulic device designed to absorb and damp shock impulses by converting the kinetic energy of the shock into another form of energy, most often heat, which is then dissipated. Most shock absorbers take the form of a dashpot. This description is adapted from Wikipedia contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0; changes were made. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
