Fredrik Adolf Kjellin (1872 to 1910) was a Swedish metallurgical chemist who built the first induction furnace. He became metallurgical chemist at the Gysinge works of the Aktiebolaget G. Benedicks and, at the urging of his chief, investigated electric steel smelting. In 1899 he constructed the first induction furnace, which made his name known everywhere. He later joined the Metallurgiska Aktiebolaget, was made an honorary doctor by the University of Upsala in 1907 and was elected to the Iron and Steel Institute in 1905.
