The Bhilai Steel Plant, located in Bhilai in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, is the first and main Indian producer of steel rails as well as a major producer of wide steel plates and other steel products. Set up with assistance from the USSR in 1955, it also produces and markets various chemical byproducts from its coke ovens and coal chemical plant.
