Longhua Science and Technology Park

Longhua Science and Technology Park is a technology park in Longhua Town, Shenzhen, in southern China, and is Foxconn's largest factory site in the world, producing the bulk of Apple's iPhone line. The walled campus, sometimes called Foxconn City, covers about three square kilometers and includes fifteen factories, worker dormitories, four swimming pools, a fire brigade, its own television network and a town center with a grocery store, bank, restaurants, a bookstore and a hospital, employing workers whose numbers have been reported at anywhere from 230,000 to 450,000. About a quarter of employees live in the on site dormitories, and many work up to twelve hours a day, six days a week. The park drew international attention in 2010 after a spate of suicide attempts among its workers, fifteen that year alone, ten to thirteen of them fatal, that led to reporting on excessive hours and harsh management practices at the site.
