The National Synchrotron Light Source II is a national user research facility at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science. It is a synchrotron light source designed to produce X-rays 10,000 times brighter than Brookhaven's earlier National Synchrotron Light Source, and it supports research in energy security, advanced materials synthesis and manufacturing, the environment, and human health.
