The Continental Europe Synchronous Area, formerly known as the UCTE grid, is a synchronized electrical transmission network operating primarily across mainland Europe. Running as a single phase locked system at 50 hertz, it supplies electricity to more than 400 million customers across 32 countries, including most of the European Union, and ranks as the second largest synchronous electrical grid in the world.
