The IPS/UPS, widely known as the Russian grid, is a wide area synchronous electrical transmission system built from the Unified Power System of Russia together with the Integrated Power System networks of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It links the national electricity grids of these countries into one interconnected synchronous zone.
