Konrad Zuse was a German civil engineer who built the Z3 in Berlin, completed May 1941, the world's first working programmable, fully automatic digital computer. The Z3 was electromechanical, built from telephone relays rather than vacuum tubes, so it is credited as the first programmable computer of any kind while ENIAC, four years later, is credited as the first electronic one.
