Ceramics and Glass Materials

Hard, heat resistant materials made by shaping and firing inorganic raw materials or by melting silica based mixtures, among them ceramics in general and borosilicate glass, which combines silica and boron trioxide to resist heat and chemical attack. A material belongs here when the cited article describes it as a ceramic or a type of glass. It excludes metals and alloys, which belong with the metallic materials, and plastics, which belong with the polymers.
