Personal Computer Internal Hardware Components

This group gathers internal hardware components mounted inside or connected directly to a personal computer's case that support its core computing function, as distinct from external peripherals a user directly operates by hand. The motherboard is the main printed circuit board of a general purpose computer, carrying the sockets, buses, and connectors that tie every other internal component together into one working system. The graphics processing unit is a specialized electronic circuit built to accelerate digital image processing and computer graphics rendering, present either as a discrete expansion card or as an integrated part of the motherboard or processor package. The sound card is an internal expansion card that provides the input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under the control of software. Each member is a physical part a computer maker or upgrader installs inside the case, working alongside but distinct from its storage and pointing-device peripherals.
