The Daedalus Flight Pack is a jet suit capable of flight, hovering and powered jumps, built by the British inventor Richard Browning, an athlete and Royal Marine Reservist, through his company Gravity Industries. Browning began developing the suit in 2016 and first demonstrated it publicly at the TED conference in Vancouver in 2017; it is powered by five micro gas-turbine jet engines producing roughly 1,050 brake horsepower, mounted on the arms and back so the pilot can steer largely with hand and arm movement, a design that sets it apart from other manned flight packs. In testing the suit has reached speeds around 85 miles per hour and altitudes of about 2,000 feet, though its ten-minute fuel endurance keeps it a demonstration and sport device rather than a practical means of transport.
