Eurostar is an international high speed electric rail service that runs through the Channel Tunnel, connecting Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Commercial service began on 14 November 1994, initially between London Waterloo International and Paris Nord and Brussels South, with a full daily schedule from the following May and a London to Paris journey time of about two hours and fifty five minutes. The operator has carried more than 400 million passengers since it began, including 20 million in 2025 alone, and became the Eurostar Group after a 2023 merger with Thalys, combining cross Channel and continental European high speed rail under one operator.
