Isochronic Tones

Isochronic tones are regular beats of a single tone that are switched on and off rapidly and played to both ears at once, producing sharp and distinctive pulses of sound that can be varied both by the frequency of the underlying tone and by the interval at which the pulses repeat. They are marketed as a tool for brainwave entrainment, a theoretical practice intended to synchronize the brains own electrical activity with an external rhythm in order to alter mood or mental state. Very little research has examined any claimed health benefits from listening to isochronic tones, and the topic is treated by mainstream sources as pseudoscience rather than an established therapeutic technique.
