Microprocessor

A microprocessor is a computer processor whose data processing logic and control are contained on a single integrated circuit, or a small number of integrated circuits. It holds the arithmetic, logic and control circuitry needed to carry out the functions of a computer's central processing unit, interpreting and executing machine code and performing arithmetic operations. As a multipurpose, clock driven, register based digital integrated circuit, it accepts binary data as input, processes it according to instructions stored in its memory, and produces results as output, using both combinational and sequential digital logic to operate on numbers and symbols in the binary number system.
