A mind machine, also called a brain machine or light and sound machine, is a device that uses pulsing rhythmic sound, flashing light, or a combination of the two to induce deep states of relaxation or concentration in the user. Manufacturers and proponents describe the effect as brainwave entrainment, in which the brains electrical rhythms are said to synchronize with the external pulsing stimulus.
