Wheelchair

A wheelchair is a mobilized form of chair fitted with two or more wheels, a footrest and a usually cushioned armrest, used when walking is difficult or impossible because of illness, injury, disability or age related conditions. It provides mobility, postural support and greater independence for people who cannot walk or who have difficulty walking, letting them move around and take part in everyday activities. Wheelchairs come in many formats built for particular needs, including specialized seating and individualized controls for activities such as sport or beach use, and they divide broadly into motorized wheelchairs, propelled by batteries and electric motors, and manual wheelchairs, propelled by the occupant, by someone pushing from behind, or by a side handle attachment.
