Agricultural Engineering

Engineers whose defining technological contribution is machinery, irrigation or processing technology built specifically for farming and food production: mechanized harvesting and planting equipment, irrigation and drainage systems, and the storage and processing machinery that moves a crop from field to market. Belongs here: engineers credited with a specific piece of farm machinery or an irrigation method rather than a general mechanical principle later applied to agriculture. Does not belong here: general-purpose engines and mechanisms adapted to farm use without a farming-specific design contribution, grouped under Mechanical Engineering, or the biological and chemical improvement of crops themselves, which belongs to the agriculture atlas rather than to this one.
