Electrical Engineering

Engineers whose defining technological contribution is generating, transmitting, converting or applying electricity and electromagnetic signals: the telegraph and telephone pioneers, radio and television inventors, the transistor and integrated-circuit line, and the power-systems and instrumentation specialists. Belongs here: Alexander Graham Bell, Nikola Tesla, Guglielmo Marconi, Edith Clarke, Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce as a representative span from the telegraph era to the integrated circuit. Does not belong here: engineers whose contribution is the physical device built around an electrical core rather than the electrical principle itself, such as the mechanical structure of an engine or airframe, grouped under Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or the extraction and processing of the raw electronic materials themselves, grouped under Materials Engineering.
