Engineers whose defining technological contribution is the integration and management of a large, multi-part technical system as a whole, rather than any single component of it: systems architecture, interface management across subsystems built by different teams, and the methods that keep a complex system reliable across its full lifecycle. Belongs here: engineers credited specifically with a systems-integration method or the architecture of a system spanning multiple engineering disciplines. Does not belong here: a single subsystem or component considered on its own, which belongs to the specific field that built it, such as Aerospace or Computer Engineering, even when that subsystem is part of a larger integrated system.
