Engineered systems built to organize or automate a manufacturing or production process at scale, rather than a single machine: a production line, a factory-wide control system, or a comparable process-management system. This is the technology atlas's smallest engineered-system field by live count, reflecting how much industrial engineering work is method and workflow rather than a single named physical system. Does not belong here: the individual machines that make up a production line, grouped under Mechanical Engineering, when the machine itself rather than the line as a whole is the subject.
