Electrical Engineering

One of the four traditional main branches of engineering: the study of the generation, transmission and control of electrical energy and information. This branch groups the technology atlas's own electronics-and-computation family of fields: Electrical Engineering itself (circuits, power systems, electromagnetics), Computer Engineering (computer hardware and digital systems), Software Engineering (the design and construction of computer programs), Robotics Engineering (robots and the control systems that let a machine act with reduced human direction) and Mechatronics Engineering (the integration of mechanical, electrical and computer systems into one device). Does not belong here: the mechanical structure a robot or mechatronic device is built on, considered on its own, grouped under Mechanical Engineering, or the extraction and generation technology feeding electrical power into the grid, grouped under Chemical Engineering's own Energy field.
