Milling is the process of machining using rotary cutters to remove material by advancing a workpiece into the cutter. It can be carried out in varying directions along one or several axes, with cutter head speed and pressure adjusted for the job, and it covers a wide variety of operations and machines ranging from small individual parts to large, heavy duty gang milling operations. It is one of the most commonly used processes for machining custom parts to precise tolerances.
