A smartphone is a mobile device that combines the functionality of a traditional mobile phone (feature phone) with advanced computing capabilities.

Developed over the 19th to 20th centuries, punched cards were widely used for data processing, the control of automated machines, and computing.

A barcode reader or barcode scanner is an optical scanner that can read or scan printed barcodes and send the data they contain to a computer.

A modulator-demodulator, commonly referred to as a modem, is a computer hardware device that converts data from a digital format into a format suitable for an analog transmission medium such as telephone or radio.

Ethernet ( EE-thər-net) is a family of wired computer networking standards designed for (but not limited to) local area networks (LAN), access networks, and metropolitan area networks (MAN).

Inkjet printing is a type of computer printing that recreates a digital image by propelling very fine droplets of ink onto various substrates such as paper, plastic, wood and metal.

It holds and allows communication between many of the crucial electronic components of a system, such as the central processing unit (CPU) and memory, and provides connectors for other peripherals.

Normally, they refer to small, battery-powered devices utilising flash memory or a hard disk for storing various media files.

A graphics tablet (also known as a digitizer, digital graphic tablet, pen tablet, drawing tablet, external drawing pad or digital art board) is a computer input device that enables a user to hand draw or paint images, animations and graphics, with a special pen-like stylus, similar to the way a person draws pictures with a pencil and paper by hand.

Dot matrix printing, sometimes called impact matrix printing, is a computer printing process in which ink is applied to a surface using a relatively low-resolution dot matrix for layout.

John William Mauchly ( MAWK-lee; August 30, 1907, January 8, 1980) was an American physicist who, along with J. Presper Eckert, designed ENIAC, the first general-purpose electronic digital computer, as well as EDVAC, BINAC and UNIVAC I, the first commercial computer made in the United States.

John Vincent Atanasoff (October 4, 1903, June 15, 1995) was an American physicist and inventor credited with inventing the first electronic digital computer.

Clifford Edward Berry (April 19, 1918, October 30, 1963) was an American computer scientist who helped John Vincent Atanasoff create the first digital electronic computer in 1939, the Atanasoff-Berry computer (ABC).

Alan Mathison Turing (; 23 June 1912-7 June 1954) was an English mathematician and logician widely regarded as the father of theoretical computer science.

John von Neumann ( von NOY-mən; Hungarian: Neumann János Lajos; December 28, 1903, February 8, 1957) was a Hungarian and American mathematician, physicist, computer scientist and engineer.

An automated teller machine (ATM) is an electronic telecommunications device that enables customers of financial institutions to perform financial transactions, such as cash withdrawals, deposits, funds transfers, balance or account information inquiries, at any time and without the need for direct interaction with bank staff.

The required data is then extracted from patterns that are present in both the horizontal and the vertical components of the QR image.

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects.

Speech recognition (automatic speech recognition (ASR), computer speech recognition, or speech-to-text (STT)) is a sub-field of computational linguistics concerned with methods and technologies that translate spoken language into text or other interpretable forms.

Its largest component is a tactile sensor: an electronic device with a flat surface that detects the position and motion of a user's fingers, and translates them into 2D motion to control a pointer in a graphical user interface.

Smart cards can provide personal identification, authentication, data storage, and application processing.

SIM cards are also used in various satellite phones, smart watches, computers, or cameras.

A video game console is an electronic device that outputs a video signal or image to display a video game that can typically be played with a game controller.

Punched tape or perforated paper tape is a form of data storage that consists of a long strip of paper through which small holes are punched.

Near-field communication (NFC) is a set of communication protocols that enables communication between two electronic devices over a distance of 4 cm (1+1⁄2 in) or less.

The Sloot Digital Coding System (SDCS) is an alleged technique for data encoding claimed to have been invented in 1995 by Romke Jan Bernhard Sloot (1944-1999), an electronics engineer in the Netherlands.

They were phased out in favor of electronic calculators in the 1970s and by personal computers beginning in about 1985.

The set of available punctuation had significant impact on the syntax of computer languages and text markup.

A calculator is typically a portable electronic device used to perform calculations, ranging from basic arithmetic to complex mathematics.
